The only thing I've written lately are moving lists.... lots and lots of lists... my lists have lists. I remain calm in the sea of boxes and rummage that surrounds me. Yeh right!!

Moving day is set for November 18th so this year's NaNo will be a no show for me. Last years effort amounted to about 10 days work. Maybe next year.

All will be well and I will be comfortably settled in my new study and writing glorious prose by the start of the new year.

Progress Report

I've hit a milestone in the novel. I had a work spurt last week, really pushed forward and I can say I've finally finished the rough draft of, "Time Out of Mind". Now the fun part... rewrites.

negligence... Failure to act with the prudence that a reasonable person would exercise under the same circumstances.

I'm certainly guilty of neglect so far as my blog is concerned. I don't think I'm a true blogger at heart, but I will persevere. My problem is that I don't have a enough perseverance to go around... on most everything. I have lots of excuses and perhaps I could blog them. It wouldn't be especially interesting, but perhaps insightful for me. I'm not getting any younger and writing doesn't write itself.

Yet another chair update.

Much happy dancing. It's 10:10 am and my chair has arrived :-)

New Chair Update

My new chair should arrive today. I have abounding faith in Staples delivery service. This is the new, new chair... the old, new chair I was informed is no longer available. This new, new chair is a bobby-dazzler and was on sale or I wouldn't have even entertained the thought of buying it. Still it was an extravagance, but then I am worth it. It can, perhaps to double duty and I can be buried in it... it better last at least that long. Probably way too big for my humble "little" corner of the living room. For some reason they didn't feel it necessary to share the size of it when I ordered online. But all chairs are pretty much the same size, give or take and inch... right?
Of course a new office chair spawned the need for a bookcase... just a small one to put beside the desk and organize the clutter. I am a great believer in organizing my clutter. The bookcase was a bit of fiasco yesterday. I do not, nor will I ever have any kind of faith in Canadian Tire (our all around catch all store for everything from tires, to paint, to dishes and everything in between) ... it is an entity onto itself and does not work and pay well with others. The bookcase was supposed to be there... I checked online... I have the greatest faith in online shopping... but the actual store was another matter. It took the better part of half and hour for them to finally admit it didn't exist in their stock room. No matter I had a plan B. I ordered online from a Sears department store, which is only slightly more dependable, probably because you pay for the privilege of picking up the item yourself once you've ordered it and waited two weeks.
So I sit her in my old chair... a bit frayed and flat bottomed from years of use... a bit like me... to wait for delivery of my lovely new chair.

Author readings

It was the last of the Lit Lunches at the library today and the last day of the Lit City Month events. Today it was readings by two mystery writers, Jeffrey Round and John McFetridge. I'm not a mystery book lover, but it's always great to listen to an author read excerpts from his book and hear a bit about his writing process. A very enjoyable time.

What I'm reading...

Drood by Dan Simmons

Lovely thick book... my favourite kind. I know that has little to do with how good the book is, but if I'm going to be transported to another world by an author I like to be assured I'm going to be there a while and really get to know the place. So far it's a good read.
